Flash floods and landslides in parts Jammu and Kashmir, causing damage to public infrastructure.
The Union territory administration was compelled to close schools in the Kashmir valley and the Reasi district as a precaution due to the unceasing rain that hit several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials.
Numerous areas have suffered greatly as a result of the recent heavy rains. In certain areas of Poonch and northern Kashmir, the intense rain has caused flash floods and landslides, damaging both private and public property.
On Monday, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed to traffic because of several landslides that occurred along the route. Several automobiles were left stuck on the highway.
Flood waters swamping roads cut off the Kupwara district in north Kashmir from the rest of the valley. Rain caused the water level to rise even more, forcing at least 336 families to leave the area. According to officials, the Pohru Nallah in Seelu Kupwara, a tributary of the Jhelum River, broke the danger level of 1578.9 m, allowing water to overflow a section of the Kupwara highway and enter villages in patches.
