Arvind Kejriwal’s provisional bail: The Supreme Court questioned the length of time the ED spent investigating the matter, noting that the agency needed two years to find evidence. The panel further questioned why the defendants and witnesses in the case were not subjected to pertinent direct questioning. Speaking on behalf of the ED, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju stated that Kejriwal was not initially at the heart of the investigation but that later on, his role became evident.

New Delhi: “The Supreme Court on Tuesday questioned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over the” “delay” “in the probe into a money laundering case related to the excise policy involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and asked the agency to submit the case files before arresting the AAP leader.” The ED was also ordered to bring the case papers from before and after the arrest of Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister of Delhi and another accused in the case, by a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta. Kejriwal’s plea against his ED arrest was being heard by the bench in this matter.

The Supreme Court questioned the ED on the time taken to investigate the case and said that it took two years for the agency to uncover something. The bench also asked why relevant direct questions were not asked to the witnesses and accused in the case. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, said initially Kejriwal was not at the centre of the probe and later his role became clear. He said Kejriwal had stayed at a seven-star hotel during the 2022 Goa Assembly polls and part of the bills were allegedly paid by the General Administration Department of the Delhi government.
